CBI Bank & Trust recently presented a check in the amount of $800 to Washington High School in conjunction with the Demon Mania Program. Demon Mania links the performance of five varsity sports teams (football, girls basketball, boys basketball, baseball, and softball) with a series of donations from the bank to the school. The funds are then used at the sole discretion of WHS to help pay for special, unbudgeted needs. A total of $7,965 has been donated since the program got underway during the 2014-15 academic year. On hand for the check presentation were Ben Obermann, head softball coach, Steve Olson, CBI Bank & Trust Washington County Market President, and Nathan Miller, head baseball coach.

There are many funding streams that the Washington Community School District utilizes to fund education. Although, our certified enrollment was up 40 students, over the last 3 years we are still down by 38 students. The total budget for the District is nearly $20 million, but that includes all funds available to us. I think it is important to communicate to our staff and patrons the different funds and their allowable uses as we monitor our enrollment(revenue) and expenses.
