Washington Schools Receive Over $92,000 In Grants! PDF Print E-mail

On Wednesday June 16th, 2010 Washington Community Schools was awarded 3 grants from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation totaling over $92,000! The District received $42,097 for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Student Enrichment Opportunites grant, $30,000 to media-enable more classrooms throughout the schools, and $20,000 to help install a new high-speed wireless network this summer!

At the ASSURE Center Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, graduating Senior Dayanna, received the American Citizenship Award.  This award was presented by Mr.  Brandon Edgington, Attorney at Law, on behalf of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Washington County Lawyers Association. Pictured with Dayanna and Mr. Edgington are Veta Thode, ASSURE Center principal, Dayanna's mother and younger sister.

Geothermal Test Wells being drilled for Stewart and the New High School

How exciting!  Two of our schools will soon be Geothermal: Stewart & the new High School.  Test wells were drilled recently to get started on the project.  We are very excited to be energy efficient!
