Have you ever thought about looking for a part time job, but you can’t find anything that pays well for your time? How about a part time profession that offers the benefit of a retirement plan? How about a job that pays you year round (when contracted) even when work is not required? Well we may have the solution for you and no experience is necessary!

The Washington Community School District is looking to fill open regular route and substitute bus driver positions.

This could be a great job for a parent who wants to be on the same schedule as their child’s school schedule, that semi-retired person who wants to earn some extra spending money, or even a person that likes going to home (non-conference) athletic events for free as a perk of employment. Starting regular route wage is $20.48/hour and averages around 3hrs or $61.44/day.

We use updated material to help you study and pass your CDL written testing as well as classroom and in the bus training to complete your CDL testing for the Iowa Department of Transportation.

There are a few requirements though. Applicants must be able to complete/pass the following items:

  • Pass a DOT Physical
  • Pass a background check with the following items:
    • Acceptable Driving History
    • Child/Dependent Adult Abuse Check
    • Criminal History Check
  • Applicants must pass a Pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening throughout their employment.

Additional State of Iowa mandated training within 6 months of passage of the above items is required.

Washington Community Schools offers paid training and we are currently offering a $1,500.00 sign-on bonus for new drivers who will take on a regular route and a $750.00 sign on bonus for new substitute drivers. Bonus is paid in 4 installments during the first year as benchmarks are met, and a driving contract is required. Bonus applies to new drivers that have not been employed by the WCSD in the past 5 years.

Orange & Black Give Back Day PDF Print E-mail

On Monday May 13th students and staff from the Middle School participated in their give back day to the community. The students and staff went to 36 different sites around the community to help with projects. They spent the morning painting, weeding, planting, mulching, and cleaning at the various sites.

We had a ton of support from the community to make the day possible. Whether it was donations of money, food, supplies or helping chaperone that day, we couldn’t have done it without you.

We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for supporting the Middle School Orange & Black Give Back day: Mahaska Bottling, West Liberty foods in Mt. Pleasant, the Washington Lions Club, Hills Bank & Trust, CBI Bank & Trust, Latta Harris LLP, Washington PIE group, Wal Mart, Hy Vee, Michelle Bartholomew, Tricia Kroll, Dana Mc Dole, Katie Lujan, Hanna Marner, Kelly Smith, Mike & Susan Van Osdol, Dana Patterson, Tasha Hesseltine, Rhiannon Long, Melanie Rothe, Rachel Berdo, Pamela Vongpanya, Jon & Jessica Read, Nathan Fishback, Mike & Marcy Murphy, Nicole Kitchen, Heather Greiner, Stacey Chenoweth, Janet Conrad, Tammy LaBelle, Amy Kleese, Russ Vander Pol, Robin Rees, Julie Evans, Nick Morrison, Randi Dale, Nicole Stoutner.
