Bowling Foundation Grant Awarded to Junior High PDF Print E-mail

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Bowling Foundation announced it has awarded grants to more than six schools as part of its continuing effort to help enhance peoples’ lives through bowling. The Mobile Bowling Equipment program annually helps schools, parks and recreation departments, disabled and disadvantaged service groups and other organizations and youth groups purchase equipment to teach and enjoy bowling. The grants, awarded in the form of bowling kits, are valued at $1200. Each kit includes six carpet bowling lanes, rubberized bowling balls and pins plus instructional DVDs to assist coaches and teachers in introducing and instructing the game of bowling.

All Schools Band Concert PDF Print E-mail

On March 3rd, all band students from grades 5-12 participated in the All-School Washington CSD Band Concert. Each participating band performed 2 pieces and for the grand finale, the entire group of 200+ band students grades 5-12 played "Chugach Overture" together directed by all three directors, Tom Wehr, Don Hughes and Craig McClenahan. Performing bands were: Beginning elementary band, Advanced elementary band, Jr. High Band, High School Band and Jazz Band.

$19,826 Grant awarded to Junior High PDF Print E-mail

We have some fantastic news to share with you! The Junior High was recently awarded a $19,826 grant from the Kern Family Foundation for the Gateway to Technology (GTT) Program. The grant will be used to train teachers to now add a second GTT class next year. The new class focuses on animation and robotics. GTT is an introductory program that leads into Pathway to Engineering classes at the high school. It is all part of Project Lead The Way which focuses on engineering and technology. This activity- oriented program helps students explore math, science and technology through challenges and problem solving. Its' curriculum helps prepare students for jobs/ careers in math, science and technology fields. What a great adventure for WJH students!

Junior High Road Announcement PDF Print E-mail

$2500 presented to Junior High PDF Print E-mail

Thank you to Jim Cuddeback and the America's Farmers Grow Communities for your contribution of $2500 to our Junior High School. Each year the Monsanto Fund awards money to local farmers in a commitment to the important contribution farmers make to our society in helping communities grow. We want to thank Jim Cuddeback, a former science teacher at WJH, for contributing his award to our Junior High. Jim also is teaches the hunter safety course in the school annually. The money will be used to purchase new microscopes and calculators for the science and math departments. Thank you, Jim for your contribution, support and all your involvement in our school!
