MS Band Students Perform for St. James Students PDF Print E-mail

The week of April 10 thru 16th is the Week of the Young Child and to help celebrate this week, 16 Washington Middle School Band students performed and interacted with pre-school and Kindergarten students from St. James school on Monday, April 11th. Students demonstrated their instruments, played through selections from Large Group Contest ( Arabian Dances) and Marching Band (I Want To Hold Your Hand). After the performance, they broke into groups and let the students ask questions, hold instruments, push keys and buttons and play some percussion instruments. It was a great opportunity for all students involved.

Mt. Pleasant Honor Band PDF Print E-mail

18 Washington MS Band students attended the Mt. Pleasant Honor Band on Saturday, April 9th, 2016. Students arrived at 8:15am and rehearsed with students from 15 other area schools in a 6th grade and a 7th/8th grade honor band. The 6th grade director was Jim DePriest from Mt. Pleasant and the 7th/8th grade director was Kim Benson from Oskaloosa. After the morning rehearsals and breaks, the students and directors were treated to a clinic and performance by the Dallas Brass (a world wide professionally touring brass group). The students rehearsed with the Dallas Brass in the afternoon and then performed at 4pm concert which featured the Dallas Brass on one number with each group.

WMS Washington DC Parent Meeting Scheduled PDF Print E-mail

There will be an important parent meeting for students scheduled to travel to Washington DC in June on May 19th at 5:30 in the Middle school Auditorium. We will be discussing trip information including hotel and departure details. We will also have a drawing to determine who will lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown. Acrostic Poems PDF Print E-mail

WMS Students in Ms. McLaughlin's class had fun and did a great job creating these acrostic poems for their own test taking strategies.
