HS: New Saltwater Aquarium Print

Washington High School PTO recently donated money to the Science Department for the purchase of a saltwater aquarium, animals and all other necessary materials for the tank. The aquarium was purchased from Mr. Hung Lam who owns and operates Sea of Marvels in North Liberty. Hung came to Washington High School with all of the materials ready to assemble: aged water & live sand, live rock and animals. He assembled the tank and explained many things to the students about conditions needed to maintain a saltwater tank and about handling and caring for the animals. The tank was assembled during the plant/animal biology class as part of the class lessons; but all of the biology classes are enjoying the new creatures in room 207. If you visit the room, look for 21 different species of animals. This project was possible with the generosity of both the PTO and Hung Lam; the value of the tank and salt water creatures is more than twice what he (Hung Lam) accepted as payment. Miss Gray and her students are very grateful for this generous gift. Pictured are a few of the students (top photo Kyle C & bottom photo Mary Kate H) with the new tank, Hung Lam and Miss Gray.
