Education Reform Town Hall Meeting Print

The first Town Hall meeting on Education Reform for Iowa was held this morning in the Washington High School Auditorium. Sandy Greiner introduced Governor Terry Branstad, Lt Governor Kim Reynolds and Education Assistant Linda Fandel. The goal is to give all Iowa students a world class education. The general message was: "Good" is not "good enough" anymore; we now need to be "outstanding" to ensure our students are world class competitive. The goals are: Great Teachers/ Principals, High Expectations/ Fair Measures and a Spirit of Innovation. This fall, Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds are seeking feedback to improve the education blueprint. They will issue a final proposal before the 2012 Legislature convenes for lawmakers to consider. Giving our children a world-class education is a responsibility we all share, and one we can meet together.
