Bridge Designer Contest Print

An honor has been bestowed on one of our Washington High School Students! Brett, a junior at WHS is in the West Point National Bridge Building Contest along with 5965 other engineering students from across the United States. This contest uses the West Point Bridge Designer Software. Students use the software to design and test a virtual bridge. The software was developed by the US Military Academy at West Point. The contest is sponsored by American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He built his first bridge about a month ago and it placed #1279 in the United States. He has since modified the bridge several times as well as starting over several times. Now, with over 20 hours working on this project; Brett holds 252nd place in the competition. His goal is to take first place and receive the $10,000 prize along with a notebook computer! Brett is currently in his first engineering class at WHS and we're excited to cheer him on in this National Competition.
