Lincoln: "PURE H2O" LEGO TEAM ADVANCES TO STATE! Print

The Lincoln Elementary LEGO League Team “PURE H2O” competed at the Southern Iowa Regional Tournament on Dec 7th. Team members were challenged to solve problems associated with natural disasters. Ie. programming their LEGO robot, "H20", to complete tasks & collect supplies on the challenge board. This years project was to research water purity & problems with water after natural disasters; such as floods, earthquakes & drought. The team joined forces with John Hays, founder of Hays Pure Water For All, to build special water purifiers. The filters sanitize water & protect against the spread of cholera in poor/ disaster stricken areas of the world. Students constructed enough water filters for 25,000 people to drink safe water. The filters were personally delivered by Hays during his recent trip to Cuba. They placed second in core values & teamwork; and third in the overall tournament of 38 teams. PURE H2O will compete January 17th at the Ames State Tournament. The team wishes to thank sponsors: John Hays, Hayspurewaterforall.com & John Deere Corporation.
