Hop To It Engineering Camp Offered Print

Washington County Extension & 4-H and Lincoln Elementary are partnering together Feb 8-11 to offer a 4 day mini-science camp called Hop To It – Safe Removal of Invasive Species. This camp is open to any 4th - 5th grade student who wants to experiment more with science, mechanical engineering, environment, and protecting native species.

At camp students will see what damage has been done by the invasive Cane Toad in Australia, work to improve current traps and design new technologies to safely remove these invasive species. A local conservationist will share about the invasive species attaching Iowa backyards.

Hop To It registrations are being accepted on a first come, first serve basis until February 5. There is a $10 fee due with the registration form. Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off at Lincoln Elementary or the Washington County Extension Office. They are also available on the Extension website at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/washington/

Please contact the Washington County Extension Office, 319-653-4811, with any questions about Hop To It Engineering Camp or how to get involved with other 4-H science activities.
