Lincoln Fire Safety Day Print

Students at Lincoln Elementary recently participated in Fire Safety Day. The Washington Fire Department joined us with lots of equipment to help demonstrate fire safety drills for our students. Fire fighters set up four different stations for students. The SMOKE MOBILE was a big enclosed trailer filled with smoke; students had to crawl through/ around obstacles to practice crawling and staying low in a room/ house filled with smoke. Another station was the STOVE TOP/ GREASE FIRE STATION, where students learned how to properly put out a stove top fire and saw how to correctly use a fire extinguisher to put a larger fire. The SEARCH AND RESCUE/ SMOKE DEMONSTRATION showed students how fire fighters search for people while in a house during a fire and saw how smoke goes to the top of room, clearing room at the bottom to stay low and crawl to safety. Lastly, the FIRE TRUCK DEMONSTRATION was a favorite where students could see a 100' fire truck. Fire fighters showed the equipment they use to help put out fires. They also showed the truck's ability to go up to 100' feet in the air. It was amazing! Pictured here are students listening to the fire fighter talk about some of the equipment they use on a fire truck.
