Lincoln: Sumdog Math Contest Print

The Sumdog Math Contest has been going on recently at Lincoln Elementary in many of the classrooms. Sumdog is a computer based program where students learn math by playing short games against friends. Children work hard to earn credits. Games are not tied to specific topics so children can practice a topic repeatedly with a lot of variety in how it is taught. It was a one week program where the students may participate both at home and at school. It allows multiple classrooms within the same school building to participate; so students get a taste of healthy competition. Teacher Jane Flander stated, "Last year we were in the top 10 schools using Sumdog!" Pictured are a few students from Jane Flander's classroom participating in this computer based math contest. It was a great learning experience!
