Stewart: ELL Class Print

The Stewart 2nd grade English Language Learners (ELL) class had the opportunity to have lunch at the Panda Palace last Friday. Kate Glinsmann, the ELL teacher, wrote and received a grant through the Kids in Need Teacher Grant program, sponsored by the Office Depot Foundation and Office Depot Star Teacher Program, Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores, Fred Meyer and Via Credit Union. The students studied a vocabulary unit about restaurants, working on the vocabulary that is related to the unit. They practiced ordering their meals in the classroom and then were able to order on their own at the restaurant. They even attempted to use chopsticks! It was a fun (and delicious) way to learn English vocabulary in a practical setting.
