WHS School Safety Initiative

The Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded the Washington Community School District a $25,000 grant for a video surveillance system at Washington High School during the fall of 2007. Since the shootings at Columbine High School, schools across the nation have improved security. The new video surveillance system provides 24-hour coverage for exterior doors and high traffic hallway areas. Washington High School facilities are used for multiple school and public activities. Activities include music performances, athletic contests, meetings, church events and many others. Video surveillance systems are proven deterrents against theft, assault, rape and random acts of violence.
