The Washington Community School District (WCSD) covers a 208 square mile area in the center of Washington County and a small portion of Jefferson County; including the cities of Washington and Brighton. We are a 3A Class School in the the Southeast Conference. We have an enrollment of 1720 students and 260 employees -- including teachers, secretaries, bus drivers, cooks, custodians, aides and administrators. There are 134 teachers within our four schools; over 40% hold Master's degrees.
We have a well maintained fleet of 19 buses transporting approximately 700 students per day. We have daily on-site preparation of food in each attendance center with a breakfast program, salad bar and a la carte items offered. Our schools show advancements in energy efficiency; ie. upgraded heating/ cooling/ windows/ lighting and geothermal. 1:1 Computer-to-Student Ratio K-12; we take pride in our innovative technology both in the classroom and administrative use. Many of our classrooms are media enabled and wired for surround sound.
